A local gentleman came into my store today. He limped up my business stairs and explained to me his situation. He was explaining how he could lose the ability to walk any day. He is an non-service Army Vet that currently is beginning to 'slip through the cracks'. He explained how in the Clinton years Clinton made it possible for non-service vets to get VA benefits if the paperwork was done within the 3 month time span, and that he was lucky to even make it. Those that didn't file the paperwork in time are on a long wait list.

Anyway, here is the letter he gave me:

REQUEST FOR ASSISTANCE:

MY NAME IS ANTHONY S. COLLINS. I WAS INVOLVED IN A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT IN FEBRUARY OF 2007. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH WHIPLASH. AFTER A WEEK OF RECOVERY, I WENT BACK TO MY EMPLOYER. HOWEVER, NOW, ON SEPTEMBER 25, 2007, I WAS SEEN BY A NEUROLOGIST AND DIAGNOSED WITH A SEVERE SPINAL CORD INJURY. I CAN BECOME A QUADRAPLEGIC AT ANYTIME. I WILL HAVE A SURGICAL PROCEDURE ATTEMPTED IN NOVEMBER 2007.

I am setting up an online donation fund via paypal, wherein it will transfer the funds to my paypal account and I will give Anthony the money he needs that the state doesn't provide. He told me he'd rather starve first than to let his cats do so, and made too much last year to qualify for state assistance. This concept isn't foreign, charity and goodness within people is out there, we cannot rely on our government to do it for us because it will end up hurting us when we need it. This is why we need Ron Paul for President, so we can aid those in need and have the money to do so more willingly with the elimination of Income Tax.
